P2P platform hits £50m lending milestone

Peer-to-peer (P2P) platform Lending Works has celebrated providing more than £50m worth of loans since its launch in January 2014. The achievement follows a record-breaking first quarter of 2017, with nearly £5m lent via the platform in March alone. P2P financing kicks off in Malaysia

The peer-to-peer (P2P) lending industry is off to an encouraging start. Funding Societies Malaysia, the first platform to launch, successfully raised RM320,000 for two term loan financing programmes within three weeks in March. The loans will be used to fund the working capital of two companies – an electronics business and an automobile parts distribution business. Meanwhile, the platform aims to provide investors with an effective return of 22% and 24.91% respectively over a year. “Most of the investors are in the 20 to 40 age group. Funding Circle close further funding round, valued at $1 billion

Investor interest in the peer-to-peer lending industry shows no sign of slowing; British site Funding Circle have just closed another round of funding, taking their total raise to $380 million. Funding Circle recently closed another round of venture capital funding to the tune of $100 million, valuing the company at $1 billion. Money360’s unique variable for real estate lending success

Money360 is experiencing rapid growth in the marketplace lending sector for real estate. Recently Money360 announced it had surpassed $200 million in commercial real estate loans after exceeding $100 million last August. Lending startup RedCarpet raises $2.5 mn from Lightspeed

Gurgaon-based micro-lending startup RedCarpet Tech Pvt Ltd has secured $2.5 million (Rs 16 crores) in a funding round led by venture capital firm Lightspeed Venture Partners, according to a financial daily. The funds will be deployed for improving the technology used for risk evaluation, adding new student-lending features, appointing data scientists and increasing market penetration, The Economic Times reported, citing an anonymous source. RedCarpet declined to comment on the development. Founded in 2015 by Sandeep Srinivasa, Kartik Venkataraman and Abhay Tamaria, RedCarpet finances online purchases for e-commerce and travel.
