Koyo FinTech raises $4.9M to assist underbanked UK borrowers
FinTech startup Koyo, which uses Open Banking to offer loans to underbanked UK borrowers, announced that it has raised $4.9 million in funding. The round, a mixture of debt and equity funding, was led by Forward Partners, with participation from Seedcamp, Christian Faes (founder and CEO of LendInvest) and Charles Delingpole (founder and CEO of ComplyAdvantage). Banks and Fintechs are duelling in a ‘War For Talent’
Banks may be losing the talent battle to London’s financial-technology industry, but the war for the customer is still to come. Europe’s financial technology startups are on hiring mode, fighting each other – and the incumbents — in what one executive described as a “war for talent.” Payments company GoCardless Ltd., which employs 170 people in London, will open a Paris office in February, said chief product and technology officer Carlos Gonzalez-Cadenas. UK dominates FinTech50 list of innovative financial technology firms
British FinTech firms have dominated this year’s FinTech50, a list of Europe’s most innovative financial technology companies. Some 33 of this year’s top 50 firms are based in London, cementing the UK’s position as the leader in European FinTech.
